CB53 4-Wire CB Board Conversion Set
Configuration
A special connector motherboard that will convert a top-mounted standard 64-pin connector board test fixture into a 4-wire test fixture. Conversion is valid when the UUT connects directly into the standard board rather than via a flying lead or adapter cable and eliminates the need to otherwise create custom 4-Wire test fixtures. The CB53 requires a tester with 4‑wire measurement capability, a mating connector board, and an expansion module. As with any 4‑wire measurement, twice the number of test points is required than for standard 2‑wire measurement, therefore an expansion module is necessary. Connectors will appear graphically correct once they are mapped with PinMap™ optional software.
Note that this is a ‘Plug & Play’ interface, requiring NO additional 4-wire fixturing to operate.
1 Expansion Module Required: One (1). Tester must have 4-wire measurement capability.
2E Set of two boards with expansion cable.
Voltage Rating
Rated for operation up to 500 Vdc/ac.
Can be certified for operation at the maximum rated voltage for a service fee (Item 626).
Application
Make 4-wire measurements from the signal entry point of any existing CAMI 2-wire 64-point board and closely approximate a true 4-wire test. These are the advantages:
- You can push up to 1 A through each pin of the CB board. This allows more precise resistance measurements than could be achieved using the board in 2-wire mode. If you are concerned about trace length differences within the board (a legitimate concern), you can subtract trace resistance on a per-pin basis in the Trace column to compensate for this. The trace resistance of each trace on unconnected board could be estimated by using a short jumper between two pins on the board, or you could check it with a 4-wire multimeter, or you could calculate it using assumptions about trace width, thickness, and length.
- If the cable you need to attach to the CB board cannot be directly or easily connected to the tester itself, you can float the CB53/CBx board assembly off the tester using two CB Board Extension Cables (Item 856) custom made to any length desired (second and third photos). Because this is a 4-wire system, the length of the extensions will not affect the measurement result.
For many applications, this is faster and much less expensive than a custom 4-wire fixture and provides acceptable accuracy.
